5 DAY
FISHING CHARTERS
April/May & September/October
The Houtmann Abrolhos is an archipelago of 108 islands divided into four groups. The southern or Pelsaert Group, the Easter Group, the Wallabai Group and the North Island Group.
These are surrounded by a maze of reefs and channels providing refuge for numerous rare, migratory and native species.
Many varieties of tropical life are carried to the Abrolhos in the warm waters of the Leeuwin Current, which flows south from the tropics. It was here on 5th June 1629 the Batavia ran aground (at the Wallabai Group) shipwrecking the 300 people on board.II is ideally suited for social functions from 20 to 80 guests.

While Commander Pelsaert and 44 of his men took the ship's tender to Jakarta for help, fighting and mutiny erupted on the Islands. Jeronimus Cornelisz had more than 130 men, women and children murdered.
When Pelsaert returned, he captured and tried the perpetrators, and had more than 36 hanged.
The shelters which remain from this tragic episode are the first European structures built in Australia.
